Happy Birthday Cupcake Monster

Hi there,

a while back Gerda Steiner has created the wonderful Coffee Monster stamp set and this is my first project using one of those fun little creatures:

  • color one of the adorable monsters from the Gerda Steiner Designs Coffee Monster stamp set with ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Pens and a damp watercolor brush
  • add some highlights with a white gel pen and some texture with a Staedtler Fineliner
  • cut out a stitched rectangle from watercolor paper and stamp the cupcake stand from the My Favorite Things Happy Hippos set with Versafine (Onyx Black) and color them with ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Pens as well
  • stamp the sentiment from the Gerda Steiner Designs Just Sentiments set with three colors of Altenew Crisp Ink (Emerald, Lagoon, Volcano Lake) to create an ombre effect
  • apply Altenew Crisp Ink (Volcano Lake) through the Tim Holtz Layering Stencil Bubble and ink up the edges of the panel with that same ink
  • adhere the panel to a turquoise cardbase and add some grey enamel dots as final embellishments

I hope you got inspired.

Hallo - Hello

Hi there,

I would like to show you this colorful card over on the Karten-Kunst Blog:

  • when I saw Jennifer McGuire's wonderful balloon card, I knew I had to re-create it and here is how I did it
  • cut out the Karten-Kunst Große Texte Hallo from black cardstock and run this die-cut through your ScanNCut, choose to cut a frame around the sentiment, remove the die cut and place a piece of watercolor paper on the cutting mat and press cut
  • cut out a stitched rectangle around this frame cut and place it in the center
  • use a balloon die (I chose one from the Lawn Fawn Party Balloons set) and cut it from a piece of acetate to create your own DIY stencil
  • apply several colors of Distress Ink (Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmalde, Festive Berries, Lucky Clover, Salty Ocean, Shaded Lilac) through your stencil with a Mini Ink Blending Tool until the whole panel is filled with colorful balloons
  • use a black Pitt Artist Pen and a rule to draw in the balloon strings
  • cover the black sentiment with several layers of clear embossing powder
  • cut a slightly larger stitched panel from grey cardstock and cover the area that would be behind the frame cut with double-sided adhesive
  • glue a sequin background onto the grey panel
  • lay a piece of acetate behind the frame cut and put the layers together - now all the sparkling sequins will show through the frame cut
  • use Glossy Accents to glue the sentiment into the frame
  • as a final step adhere all the layers to a white cardbase

Leave a little sparkle wherever you go.

Yours,

Stamp Connection #29

Hi there,

connected through our love for card making, blogging and being from Germany we (Cornelia from Stempel Spass and I) decided to create a monthly project within predefined requirements. We are going to show you the result every 3rd Sunday of the month and this is our 29th transatlantic get-together!

This time we have the wonderful TaeEun joining us as a guest. I am sure you already know her beautiful creations that she shares on her Rainbow in November Blog.

Our requirement for this meet-up was:
"decorate the back of your card"

... and this is what the card looks like when folded open

  • apply Distress Ink (Hickory Smoke) through the UmWowStudio Wheat stencil not only on the front but also on the back of the cardbase
  • glue a strip of patterned paper to the left side of the whole cardbase
  • from this step onwards I'll be only working on the front of the card
  • add some splatters with Distress Paint (Cracked Pistachio)
  • stamp the little dragon from the Sweet Stamp Shop Dragon set with Versafine (Smokey Gray) and color the image with Faber-Castell Polychromos Pencils and Zest-it
  • add a tiny dot detail with Staedtler Fineliners
  • stamp the sentiment from the same set with Versamark onto a strip of black cardstock and heat-emboss ii with WOW! Bright White Super Fine embossing powder
  • add a strip of DIY patterned paper underneath - I used the My Favorite Things Diagonal Stripes and Versafine Onyx Black to create this striped black-and-white paper
  • lay both strips over a torn strip of vellum
  • cut one of the leaves from the Paper Smooches Foliage 1 set from vellum as well and add the dragon on top of them
  • add some Pretty Pink Posh Sequins (Sparkling Clear 4mm and 6mm) as final embellishment

Now make sure to hop over to see Cornelia's Creation.

Thanks for stopping by. We hope to see you again at the ...

Destination Happiness ATC

Hi there,

it is time for a new Mixed Media Challenge over on the Happy Little Stampers Blog and this time it is all about Collage:

  • I created some new ATC backgrounds and I explain the process in this previous post
  • afterwards I took some torn tissue paper strips and glued it to the ATC using matte medium for some interest in the background
  • apply some Minc Reactive Screen Ink through the ARTplorations Daisy Play stencil and let it dry thoroughly
  • I ran the ATC through my Mini Minc covered with Deco Foil (Pink Melon) just to realize that the foil seems to stick to the Prima Marketing Soft Matte Gel as well - this is why I had to scrape off some of the foiling to reveal the flowers
  • stamp the bubblewrap from the STAMPlorations Mixed Media Grunge set with Versamark and heat-emboss it with WOW! Bright White Super Fine embossing powder and stamp it again with Archival Ink (Black Soot)
  • add some color to the edges using a Distress Crayon (Black Soot)
  • stamp the image from the Paper Artsy EKD03 set with Memento (Tuxedo Black) and color it with Delta, Touch Twin Brush and Copic Markers
  • add highlights with a white gel pen
  • adhere the shape to the ATC and add the sentiment from the Tim Holtz Big Chat sticker set - color the edges of the sticker with Distress Crayon (Peacock Feathers)

Thanks for stopping by.

Robots

Hi there,

it's time for a special Blog Hop over at STAMPlorations. We are introducing the Big Monsters, Little Monsters, Big Robots and Little Robots stamp sets and here are my creations:

  • use the CUTplorations Art Edges to create a film strip from black cardstock - cut out the rectangles with a craft knife
  • layer a strip of white cardstock behind the film strip and stamp some of the robots from the STAMPlorations Little Robots set
  • color the images with Delta, Touch Twin Brush and Copic Markers and add highlights with a white gel pen
  • cut a stitched panel apart and add the sentiment from the same stamp set with Versafine (Onyx Black)
  • stamp the barcode from the STAMPlorations Mixed Media Grunge set and some ink splotches from the STAMPlorations Art Marks set with Archival Ink (Watering Can)
  • adhere all the elements to a black cardbase

  • cut out two tags with the help of one of the CUTplorations Tags #1 dies - one from white cardstock and one from patterned paper from the Create a Smile Feel good 6x6 paper pad
  • stamp one of the fun robots from the STAMPlorations Little Robots set with Memento (Tuxedo Black) and color the image and the background with Delta, Touch Twin Brush and Copic Markers
  • thread some natural twine through the holes of the tags
  • create an ombre color gradient with Alcohol Markers and cut out the CUTplorations happy from this ombre piece and from black cardstock - layer those pieces slightly offset on top of each other
  • stamp the sentiment from the STAMPlorations Big Monsters set with rainbow colors of Altenew Crisp Ink (Crimson, Orange Cream, Fresh Lemon, Olive, Tide, Starlight, Deep Iris)
  • adhere the elements to a black cardbase

Enjoy the rest of the hop.
And you can win a fabulous prize, too. One commenter will win her choice of stamp set from the release. Commenting closes on Monday, September 11th. The winner will be announced on Tuesday, September 12th.
