You can never have too much happy

Hi there,

we are starting a new Mixed Media Challenge over on Happy Little Stampers and this time we would like to see some texture:

• cover a woodpanel with three layers of white gesso - let each layer dry before applying the next
• cover the whole panel with Tissue Wrap Melange - use Matte Medium to adhere this next layer
• use a brayer to apply three different shades of turquoise (DecoArt Laguna, DecoArt Indian Turquoise, Distress Paint Evergreen Bough)
• stamp the letters from the Paper Artsy JOFY 54 set with Memento Luxe (Gray Flannel)
• add the little garden scene by using the JOFY sets 24, 32, 42 and Archival Ink (Black Soot)
• color the images with Derwent Inktense Pencils and a damp watercolor brush
• ink up the edges of the whole panel with Distress Ink (Evergreen Bough)
• add the sentiment created with a Dymo Label Maker

Altered Box

Hi there,

it is time for another Stencil Sunday and the start of the June Mixed Media Challenge over on the STAMPlorations Blog. This time I altered a round paper box and turned it into a desk organizer.

• adhere Tissue Wrap to the whole box with gel medium and cover it with white gesso
• add Crackle Paste at random spots and let it dry thoroughly
• use Dylusions Paint (Vibrant Turquoise) to add color
• apply Dylusions Paint (Black Marble) over the cracked areas and through the ARTplorations Bloom Silhouettes stencil
• add white splatters with watered-down Dylusions Paint (White Linen)
• use some Metallic Rub On Paste for a grungy finish

Christmas Washi Tape

Hi there,

it's time for another Stencil Sunday and the start of a new Mixed Media Challenge over on the STAMPlorations Blog and I created my own custom-made Christmas Washi Tape:

• cover the backside of  a piece of plain tissue wrap with Stick-it Adhesive - leave the backing on until you really want to use the tape
• cut the tissue wrap into six 2 cm wide strips
• I created three pairs - a grey, a brown/vintage and a black one

Here is a close-up of the grey Washi Tape:

• stamp a background using the script stamp from the STAMPlorations Mixed Media Elements set or the newsprint stamp from the STAMPlorations Mixed Media Grunge set and Versafine (Smokey Gray)
• stamp some leaves from the STAMPlorations Distressed Floral Swirls set with Versafine (Smokey Grey)
• stamp some stars from the STAMPlorations Art Marks set with Versafine (Smokey Gray)
• stamp "Noel" from the STAMPlorations Holiday Sketches: Christmas Flower set with Versafine (Smokey Gray)
• stamp "love" and "hope" from the STAMPlorations Joyful set with Versafine (Onyx Black)
• draw in some circles with the help of the ARTplorations Bubbles stencil and a silver PITT Artist Pen

This is the brown/vintage version of the Washi Tape:

• stamp a background using the script stamp from the STAMPlorations Mixed Media Elements set or the newsprint stamp from the STAMPlorations Mixed Media Grunge set and Versafine (Vintage Sepia)
• stamp some stars, arrows and splatters or stars, scribbles and postage stamps from the STAMPlorations Art Marks set with Versafine (Vintage Sepia)
• stamp "Peace" from the STAMPlorations Holiday Sketches: Christmas Flower set with Versafine (Onyx Black)
• apply Dina Wakley Heavy Body Acrylic Paint (Sterling) through the ARTplorations Dots all Over stencil with a piece of foam

And this is the black pair of the Washi Tape:

• stamp a background using the script stamp from the STAMPlorations Mixed Media Elements set or the newsprint stamp from the STAMPlorations Mixed Media Grunge set and Versafine (Onyx Black)
• stamp some flourishes from the STAMPlorations Distressed Floral Swirls set with Versafine (Crimson Red or Olympia Green)
• stamp some splatters from the STAMPlorations Art Marks set with Versafine (Onyx Black)
• stamp "Fa La La" from the STAMPlorations Joyful set Versafine (Crimson Red or Olympia Green) and the "joyful" from the same stamp set with Versafine (Onyx Black)
• apply Dina Wakley Heavy Body Acrylic Paint (Gilt) through the ARTplorations Oh my Stars stencil with a piece of foam

This Washi Tape will be great for wrapping your presents or for the use on Christmas Mixed Media Projects. I can't wait to use it.

Sunshine Tag

Hi there,

since it is the first Sunday of the month, it is time for the STAMPlorations Stencil Sunday and the start of a new Mixed Media Challenge:

• cover a piece of watercolor paper with Tissue Wrap (Melange) using Soft Matte Gel
• cut out a tag with the help of the My Favorite Things Stitched Traditional Tag STAX
• cover the whole tag with white gesso
• create a background using Distress Paints (Ripe Persimmon, Dried Marigold, Mustard Seed)
• dye Texture Paste with Color Bursts (Sepia) and apply it through the ARTplorations Flourishes stencil 
• ink up the edges with Distress Ink (Ground Espresso)
• stamp the STAMPlorations Happy Sunflower Large with Brilliance (Pearlescent Chocolate) and cover the whole tag with clear embossing powder - this will stick to the sunflower and to parts of the Distress Ink around the edges for more texture
• color the sunflower with Distress Paints (Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed)
• add tiny dots to the center of the sunflower with a white gel pen and a dark sepia PITT Artist Pen
• add the sentiment using a sticker from the Small Talk Occasions set

Delight in the little Things Bookmark

Hi there,

it's time for the July Stamps Spotlight Week and today it is all about the Fond Expressions 2 stamp set. This is my creation:

• cut out a bookmark from watercolor paper using the Avery Elle Bookmark die and cover it with Tim Holtz Postale Tissue Wrap and gesso
• stamp the STAMPlorations French Marigold Large with Memento Luxe (Gray Flannel) twice and color them with Distress Re-Inkers (Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry, Bundled Sage, Mowed Lawn, Scattered Straw, Dried Marigold)
• stamp the leaves from the STAMPlorations Distressed Floral Swirls set with the same Memento Luxe Ink three times along the edge and color them with Distress Re-Inkers (Bundled Sage, Mowed Lawn)
• stamp the sentiment from the wonderful new STAMPlorations Fond Expressions 2 stamp set with Memento Luxe (Sweet Plum)
• ink up the edges with Distress Ink (Dusty Concord)
• as you probably now all the Distress Ink stays reactive if water is added; to avoid stains in your book, cover the whole tag with Micro Glaze to seal it
• thread a piece of seam binding dyed with Distress Paints (Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry, Dusty Condord) through the hole of the tag

• cut out a frame from wood veneer using the Lil' Inker Designs Instant Camera die and stamp the sentiment from Clearly Besotted Stamps Sweet Little Sentiments with Versafine (Onyx Black) directly to the wood frame
• add Terminology Tissue Wrap to a piece of watercolor paper using Dina Wakley Gel Medium
• apply Gelatos (Watermelon, Snow Cone, Earl Grey) to a piece of acetate, mist the color with water and smoosh it on the paper panel
• stamp the bubble wrap and dots images from STAMPlorations Mixed Media Grunge with Distress Ink (Broken China) and heat-emboss them with clear embossing powder - the embossing adds texture and you don't have to wait until the ink dries on the slick surface
• stamp one of the STAMPlorations Distressed Floral Swirls several times with Memento Luxe (Gray Flannel)
• cut out a stitched rectangle from the background panel using one of the Memory Box Stiched Rectangle Layers
• ahere everything to a kraft cardbase

Hi there,

today, I would like to share this mixed media tag with you that I created as part of my application for the Stamplorations Mixed Media Team:

• glue scraps of Tim Holtz Postale tissue wrap to a Manila Tag #8
• cover the tag with gesso
• add Distress Paint (Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon) to your craft sheet and mist it with a little water; drag the tag through the mixture until you are satisified with the result
• add Distress Spray Stain (Pumice Stone) and let it drip down the tag
• ink up the edges with Distress Ink (Pumice Stone)
• stamp some images from Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Correspondence with Versafine (Vintage Sepia) and Archival Ink (Watering Can)
• apply Distress Ink (Frayed Burlap) through the TCW well-rounded Mini stencil
• dye Wendy Vecchi White Embossing Paste with Distress Re-Inker (Frayed Burlap) and apply it through another part of the same stencil
• cut out a plane from Grunge Paper, color it with Distress Paint (Gathered Twigs), add some sketchy lines with a dark sepia PITT Artist Pen and cover the whole plane with Crackle Paint Clear Rock Candy
• use a rub on from the Remnant Rubs Words set for the first part of the sentiment and a Chit Chat sticker for the second part
• cut out "journey" from Grunge Paper, cover it with Versamark and heat-emboss it with Ranger Watering Can embossing powder
• add a little blue star altered with Alcohol Ink (Mushroom) to replace the dot over the "j"
• dye a piece of seam binding with the leftovers on your craft sheet and add it as a bow to the top of the tag

• cover a Manila Tag #8 with white gesso and use gel medium to add pieces of tissue wrap (Melange)
• apply a base with Distress Paint (Tumbled Glass) and Fresco Finish Paint (Concrete)
• cut a paper stencil from Winnie & Walter Scenery: Big Bang Confetti Cut Files and apply silver tinted (Distress Paint Brushed Pewter) texture paste through it
• stamp Kaisercraft Script with StazOn (Cloudy Sky) into random spots and also press the stamp into the paste to achieve even more texture
• stamp stars from Winnie & Walter Scenery: Big Bang Confetti with Delicata (Shimmery Silver)
• ink up the edges with Distress Ink (Broken China, Gathered Twigs)
• add Inka Gold (Silver) to the stars and some border areas
• cut the deer from Winnie & Walter The Daily Grind Collection Vol. 1: Holiday Mint Add-On  from Grungepaper and color it with Distress Paint (Antique Linen, Gathered Twigs, Walnut Stain); cover the deer with gel medium and sprinkle it with Distress Glitter (Clear Rock Candy) for just a hint of sparkle
• rub a little Distress Paint (Tumbled Glass) and Inka Gold (Silver) over a strip ofd birch bark and use it to ground the deer
• cut the word winter from Winnie & Walter The Daily Grind Collection Vol. 1: Holiday Mint Add-On and cover the white cardstock with Distress Paint (Tumbled Glass) and Fresco Finish Paint (Concrete); ink the edges with Distress Ink (Gathered Twigs) and randomly add Martha Stewart Multi-Surface Glitter (Sugar Cube) to the sentiment
• use the Tiny Attacher to adhere a piece of burlap ribbon
• I used my brand new cordless hot glue gun to adhere the elements to the tag
