Milka's Thyroid Awareness Month Blog Hop

Hi there,

I am part of Milka's Thyroid Awareness Month Blog Hop and this is my creation:

  • cut out a CUTplorations Manila Tag from watercolor cardstock
  • add color with Distress Oxide Inks (Weathered Wood, Blueprint Sketch, Faded Jeans)
  • stamp some leaves from the STAMPlorations Leaves of Thanks set with Versamark and heat-emboss them with WOW! Bright White Superfine embossing powder
  • cut out the detailed butterfly from the CUTplorations Flutter Zen 1 die set from watercolor cardstock, cover the whole thing with Versamark and heat-emboss it with Stampendous Shabby Blue embossing powder
  • adhere cheesecloth, burlap, fabric, seam binding and punchinella with hot glue and place the butterfly on top pf all the layers
  • dye a piece of seam binding with the same colors of Distress Oxide Ink and thread it through the hole of the tag
  • use two of the Tim Holtz Clipping Stickers to create the sentiment

Enjoy the rest of the hop.

Hugs,

Lion Smile Tag

Hi there,

I would love to see your projects for the new Mixed Media Challenge over on the Happy Little Stampers Blog. This time is all about one of my favorite things to create "Tags":

  • cut out a tag from extra sturdy chipboard and adhere drywall tape and corrugated cardboard to create a first layer of texture
  • cover the whole tag with white gesso
  • add color with the help of Paper Artsy Infusions (Lemoncello, Emerald Isle, Blackcurrant) and water from a mister bottle
  • add black Stabilo All pencil all around the edges and activate it with a wet watercolor brush
  • stamp the dot pattern from the STAMPlorations Mixed Media Grunge set with Archival Ink (Black Soot)
  • stamp the cute little lion from the Paper Artsy EKD03 set with Memento (Tuxedo Black) and color it with Delta, Touch Twin Brush and Copic MArkers
  • use some masking tape to create a ground for the lion to sit on - grunge it up with the black Stabilo All pencil
  • adhere the lion on top of some cheesecloth
  • dye a piece of seam binding with Distress Stain (Seedless Preserves) and thread it through the hole of the tag
  • type the sentiment on a vintage typewriter and cut it apart - ink up the edges of the little pieces with Archival Ink (Black Soot) and use double-sided adhesive to adhere them to the tag

I hope you got inspired.

Imagination ATC

Hi there,

this is just a quick reminder of this month's Mixed Media Challenge over on the STAMPlorations Blog.

  • create a background on a piece of watercolor paper using Daniel Smith and Schmincke Horadam watercolors
  • cut out an ATC from the part you like best using a die from the CUTplorations ATC/Tag Builder set
  • glue down a piece of vintage book paper at the bottom of the page
  • add color to the edges with a black Stabilo All Pencil and a wet watercolor brush
  • apply Crackle Paste through the ARTplorations Honeycomb Delight Mini stencil  and let it dry thoroughly
  • add some texture to the background by stamping the dot pattern and the numbers from the STAMPlorations Mixed Media Grunge set and the tiny text from the STAMPlorations Scribbly Splattery Grunge set with Archival Ink (Black Soot)
  • color over the crackled ares with watered-down Distress Paint (Hickory Smoke)
  • glue down some corrugated cardboard, cheesecloth, cotton ribbon (altered with the smaller chevron stamp from the STAMPlorations Mixed Media Grunge set, Archival Ink Black Soot and Distress Paint Peacock Feathers) and a sentiment from the Tim Holtz Big Chat Sticker set

I hope you got inspired.

Dare to Sparkle Canvas

Hi there,

it's time for another Stencil Sunday over on the STAMPlorations Blog.

  • cover a canvas with white gesso
  • wrap a piece of cheesecloth around a paintbrush and create a rose - secure it with Prima Marketing Clear Sculpture Medium
  • adhere the paintbrush with gel medium
  • cover the paintbrush with white gesso as well
  • add texture by applying modeling paste through the ARTplorations Old Rose Prints stencil - let it dry thoroughly
  • add color using Prima Marketing Color Bloom Sprays (Iris, Soft Teal, Summer Sky)
  • color the roses with Inktense Pencils and add shadows with Golden Fluid Acrylics (Payne's Gray)
  • ink up the edges of the whole canvas with Distress Ink (Black Soot)
  • add more interest by stamping the script form the STAMPlorations Mixed Media Elements set with Archival Ink (Watering Can)
  • stamp parts of the sentiment with the help of the STAMPlorations Art Marks set and Memento Luxe (Tuxedo Black) - and since I am very impatient I heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder to dry it instantly
  • add the "to" with the help of a Dymo Label Maker
  • add splatters with watered-down Golden Fluid Acrylics (Payne's Gray)

I hope you got inspired and don't forget to join us for our Mixed Media Challenge over at the STAMPlorations Blog. The theme is always anything mixed media except a card. You must use at least one stencil (any brand) in your project. The Linky closes at the end of the month.
