Christmas Greetings Art Journal Page

Hi there,

this is just a quick reminder of this month's Mixed Media Challenge over on the STAMPlorations Blog.

  • cover an art journal page cut from extra sturdy watercolor paper with white gesso
  • apply Prima Marketing Modeling Paste through the ARTplorations Christmas Trees stencil and let it dry thoroughly
  • add color to the background using Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals (Rusty Lantern Lime, Steampunk Sepia)
  • color the Christmas tree with Golden Fluid Acrylic Viridian Green Hue
  • stamp the script and the lines around the edges with the help of the STAMPlorations Mixed Media Elements set and Archival Ink Coffee
  • add silver and gold foil to the tree for extra sparkle and shine
  • the sentiment is from the Seasonal Chit Chat sticker set

I hope you got inspired and don't forget to join us for our Mixed Media Challenge over at the STAMPlorations Blog. The theme is always anything mixed media except a card. You must use at least one stencil (any brand) in your project. The Linky closes at the end of the month.

Sanddollar Canvas

Hi there,

I would like to show you this canvas that I created for our new Happy Little Stampers Mixed Media Challenge:

  • mix Liquitex Pouring Medium with three different colors of Dina Wakley Heavy Body Acrylic Paints (Ocean, Sky, Turquoise) and pour them onto a canvas - let this thick layer of paint dry overnight
  • apply Prima Marketing Modeling Paste through the ARTplorations Bloom Boldly stencil
  • mix Golden Acrylic Glazing Liquid with Golden Fluid Acrylic Paint (Payne's Gray) and add color to the raised areas, let dry for a bit and wipe it away with a baby wipe - repeat the process until you are happy with the result
  • stamp the sandollar from the Tim Holtz Nautical Blueprint set with Versafine (Smokey Gray) onto a piece of watercolor paper
  • color the image with Distress Markers
  • add Versamark to random spots on the sanddollar and heat-emboss it with Stampendous Frantage embossing enamel (Shabby Pink)
  • cut out the CUTplorations Holidays word die from sturdy white cardstock, cover the sentiment with Versamark and heat-emboss it with the same pink embossing enamel
  • adhere the sanddollar and the sentiment with Multi Medium Matte and add shading with a PITT Artist Pen (Cold Gray VI)
  • add splatters with watered-down Golden Fluid Acrylics (Titanium White, Carbon Black) and a Liquitex Splatter Brush

Thanks for stopping by.

Dare to Sparkle Canvas

Hi there,

it's time for another Stencil Sunday over on the STAMPlorations Blog.

  • cover a canvas with white gesso
  • wrap a piece of cheesecloth around a paintbrush and create a rose - secure it with Prima Marketing Clear Sculpture Medium
  • adhere the paintbrush with gel medium
  • cover the paintbrush with white gesso as well
  • add texture by applying modeling paste through the ARTplorations Old Rose Prints stencil - let it dry thoroughly
  • add color using Prima Marketing Color Bloom Sprays (Iris, Soft Teal, Summer Sky)
  • color the roses with Inktense Pencils and add shadows with Golden Fluid Acrylics (Payne's Gray)
  • ink up the edges of the whole canvas with Distress Ink (Black Soot)
  • add more interest by stamping the script form the STAMPlorations Mixed Media Elements set with Archival Ink (Watering Can)
  • stamp parts of the sentiment with the help of the STAMPlorations Art Marks set and Memento Luxe (Tuxedo Black) - and since I am very impatient I heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder to dry it instantly
  • add the "to" with the help of a Dymo Label Maker
  • add splatters with watered-down Golden Fluid Acrylics (Payne's Gray)

I hope you got inspired and don't forget to join us for our Mixed Media Challenge over at the STAMPlorations Blog. The theme is always anything mixed media except a card. You must use at least one stencil (any brand) in your project. The Linky closes at the end of the month.

today, we are starting the first Mixed Media Challenge in 2017 on the STAMPlorations Blog.

  • cover an art journal page cut from extra sturdy watercolor paper with white gesso
  • stamp some of the adorable STAMPlorations Houses with Versafine (Smokey Gray) - this is just to determine the exact placement on the page
  • cut out some circles from dry wall tape and adhere them onto the page

  • apply some Texture Paste through the ARTplorations Just Squares stencil and let it dry thoroughly
  • mix some Golden Fluid Acrylic (Carbon Black) with Golden Acrylic Glazing Liquid and paint it over the raised areas, let it sit for a moment and wipe it away with a baby wipe - repeat the process until you are happy with the result
  • stamp the same houses from the STAMPlorations Houses set with My Favorite Things Hybrid Ink (Black Licorice) onto a piece of sturdy white cadrstock, color them with Delta and Touch Twin Brush Markers, cut them out and glue them onto the page with Matte Multi Medium
  • add shading around the houses with a black Stabilo All Pencil
  • add snowflakes with the help of watered-down white acrylic paint and a splatter brush
  • use white Liquid Applique to create snow underneath the houses
  • add the sentiment using a sticker

I hope you got inspired.
