Happy Purr-thday

Hi there,

we are starting a new Challenge over on the Addicted to Stamps and More Blog and on this card I tried a fun new technique - I created a background with water-reactive tissue paper. Since I thought this technique is especially fun for children, my little daughter Emily made this card with me:

  • cut out hearts and dots from the Vicki Boutin Reactive Tissue Paper and place them on a stitched panel of watercolor paper
  • mist the shapes with water and let it sit for a minute (I would recommend to tape down the panel - I will definitely do it next time)
  • now start to dry the panel with your heat tool and watch all the shapes fly off and leave behind a beautiful pattern
  • stamp two cats, the fishbowl, the mouse and the pillow from the Clearly Besotted Stamps You're Purrfect set with Memento (Tuxedo Black) onto Perfect Colouring Paper and color the images with Delta, Touch Twin Brush and Copic Markers
  • tear a piece of vellum and create a ground with the help of the Tim Holtz Layering Stencil (Dot Fade), Distress Ink (Hickory Smoke) and a Mini Ink Blending Tool
  • cut out two banners - one from white cardstock and one from patterned paper from the My Favorite Things Smitten 6x6 paper pad - using one of the My Favorite Things Stitched Sentiment Strips
  • stamp the sentiment from the My Favorite Things Cool Cat set with Distress Oxide Ink (Wilted Violet) to match the background

I hope you got inspired and that you will try this fun technique.

Destination Happiness ATC

Hi there,

it is time for a new Mixed Media Challenge over on the Happy Little Stampers Blog and this time it is all about Collage:

  • I created some new ATC backgrounds and I explain the process in this previous post
  • afterwards I took some torn tissue paper strips and glued it to the ATC using matte medium for some interest in the background
  • apply some Minc Reactive Screen Ink through the ARTplorations Daisy Play stencil and let it dry thoroughly
  • I ran the ATC through my Mini Minc covered with Deco Foil (Pink Melon) just to realize that the foil seems to stick to the Prima Marketing Soft Matte Gel as well - this is why I had to scrape off some of the foiling to reveal the flowers
  • stamp the bubblewrap from the STAMPlorations Mixed Media Grunge set with Versamark and heat-emboss it with WOW! Bright White Super Fine embossing powder and stamp it again with Archival Ink (Black Soot)
  • add some color to the edges using a Distress Crayon (Black Soot)
  • stamp the image from the Paper Artsy EKD03 set with Memento (Tuxedo Black) and color it with Delta, Touch Twin Brush and Copic Markers
  • add highlights with a white gel pen
  • adhere the shape to the ATC and add the sentiment from the Tim Holtz Big Chat sticker set - color the edges of the sticker with Distress Crayon (Peacock Feathers)

Thanks for stopping by.
