Let it snow

Hi there,

we are starting a new Christmas Challenge over on the Happy Little Stampers Blog and this is my creation. I didn't use the optional twist this time but I still hope you like the little scene.

  • stamp the Purple Onion Designs Birch House, the larger one of the 2 Forests and the Let it snow sentiment with Versafine (Onyx Black) onto a piece of watercolor paper
  • cut a wonky rectangle around the scene using a die from the Avery Elle Wonky Stitches set
  • color the images with Derwent Inktense pencils
  • add color to the background with Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors
  • add snow with the help of white Liquid Applique

I hope you got inspired.

Yours,

Happy Purr-thday

Hi there,

we are starting a new Challenge over on the Addicted to Stamps and More Blog and on this card I tried a fun new technique - I created a background with water-reactive tissue paper. Since I thought this technique is especially fun for children, my little daughter Emily made this card with me:

  • cut out hearts and dots from the Vicki Boutin Reactive Tissue Paper and place them on a stitched panel of watercolor paper
  • mist the shapes with water and let it sit for a minute (I would recommend to tape down the panel - I will definitely do it next time)
  • now start to dry the panel with your heat tool and watch all the shapes fly off and leave behind a beautiful pattern
  • stamp two cats, the fishbowl, the mouse and the pillow from the Clearly Besotted Stamps You're Purrfect set with Memento (Tuxedo Black) onto Perfect Colouring Paper and color the images with Delta, Touch Twin Brush and Copic Markers
  • tear a piece of vellum and create a ground with the help of the Tim Holtz Layering Stencil (Dot Fade), Distress Ink (Hickory Smoke) and a Mini Ink Blending Tool
  • cut out two banners - one from white cardstock and one from patterned paper from the My Favorite Things Smitten 6x6 paper pad - using one of the My Favorite Things Stitched Sentiment Strips
  • stamp the sentiment from the My Favorite Things Cool Cat set with Distress Oxide Ink (Wilted Violet) to match the background

I hope you got inspired and that you will try this fun technique.

  • add some splatters with Finetec Mica Watercolors (Inca Gold)
  • ink up the edges of the tag with Distress Ink (Vintage Photo) and  a Mini Ink Blending Tool
  • dye a piece of seam binding with that same brown ink and rib it in half

Unicorn for your Birthday

Hi there,

I used the brand new Karten-Kunst Splatters Create stamp set on this birthday tag:

  • cut out a tag from watercolor paper using one of the CUTplorations Manila Tag dies
  • color the background with Brushos Cobalt Blue and Pearlized Water
  • ink up the edges with Distress Ink Hickory Smoke
  • create a backdrop for the focal image by stamping the splatter from the Karten-Kunst Create Splatters set with Versamark and heat-embossing it with WOW! Silver Bells embossing powder
  • stamp the unicorn from the Karten-Kunst Barney der Barde set with Distress Ink Hickory Smoke and color the image with Derwent Inktense Pencils and a damp watercolor brush
  • add highlights with a white gel pen
  • stamp some music notes from the same stamp set and the sentiment from the Karten-Kunst Kombi-Set Grüße with Versafine Onyx Black
  • thread a piece of purple linen ribbon through the hole of the tag and tie a natural twine bow around it

I hope you got inspired.
