Throwback Thursday - Jungle, Flowers and Mermaids

Hi there,

this is my third Throwback Thursday Post and my three projects were inspired by this wonderful card by Craftyfield which was published on the STAMPlorations Blog in January. I just love the watercolor effect over the stenciled flowers.

My first project is a jungle scene:

  • apply Grit Paste through the ARTplorations Leaf Prints 3 stencil onto a piece of watercolor paper - let it dry thoroughly
  • sprinkle some Color Burst Lime Green onto the panel and mist it water
  • wrap a strand of natural twine around the panel
  • stamp one of the adorable little monkeys from the STAMPlorations Chikoo goes Bananas set with Lawn Fawn Crunchy Leaf and color it with Delta, Touch Twin Brush and Copic Markers - add extra shading with Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils and add highlights with a white gel pen
  • cut out the CUTplorations Hang in there twice from Neenah Desert Storm kraft cardstock, layer them on top of each other and glue the sentiment onto the panel
  • adhere the panel to a cardbase

My second project is this flowery tag:

  • apply Embossing Paste through the ARTplorations Bloom Succulently stencil onto a CUTplorations Manila Tag cut from watercolor paper - let this layer dry thoroughly
  • sprinkle the lower part of the tag with Brusho Sea Green and the upper part with Brusho Violet and mist it with water
  • dye a piece of torn seam binding with that same two colors and thread it through the hole of the tag
  • add the sentiment from the STAMPlorations Shine Bright sticker set

My third project is this mermaid card:

  • apply Grit Paste through the ARTplorations Scaly stencil onto a piece of watercolor paper - let this dry thoroughly
  • sprinkle the upper part of the panel with Nuvo Shimmer Powder Cherry Bomb and the lower part with Nuvo Shimmer Powder Atlantis Burst
  • adhere the sentiment from the STAMPlorations Inspirational #1 sticker set onto a strip of paper colored with Prima Marketing Wax Sweet Rose - add a black layer underneath that sentiment strip
  • adhere the panel to a black cardbase

I hope you got inspired.

Hugs,

Relax

Hi there,

today, Elizabeth Craft Designs is releasing some wonderful new products in the Joset Designs line.

This is my first project using the new Blackboard Alphabet and the Palm Trees:

  • cut out the palm trees, the coconuts and the hammock from Elizabeth Craft Designs white Soft Finish Cardstock with the help of the new Elizabeth Craft Designs Palm Trees
  • color all the elements with Copic, Touch Twin Brush and Delta Markers
  • cut out a stitched panel from watercolor paper using the largest of the Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Rectangles
  • create a background using Distress Ink (Brushed Corduroy, Salty Ocean) and water droplets from your Mini Mister for more texture
  • emboss the shoreline with white embossing powder and add Elizabeth Craft Designs Microfine Glitter Cool Diamond on top
  • cut out the sentiment using the wonderful Elizabeth Craft Designs Blackboard Alphabet and color the letters with Alcohol Markers as well
  • add little twine bows to the ends of the hammock

On this next card I tried to create something unexpected and artsy with the help of the Elizabeth Craft Designs Summer Drink die set:

  • cut out the flower and the fruit from the Elizabeth Craft Designs Summer Drink die set several times from watercolor paper
  • cut out a stitched panel from watercolor paper using one of the Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Rectangle dies
  • add color with Brushos (Lemon, Gamboge, Sandstone), Color Bursts (Fuchsia), and lot of water from your Mister Bottle
  • let this dry naturally
  • add some black splatters with watered-down black acrylic paint
  • create the sentiment with a label maker

Soar ATC

Hi there,

this is just a quick reminder of this month's Mixed Media Challenge over on the STAMPlorations Blog.

  • cut out an ATC from sturdy white cardstock with one of the dies from the the CUTplorations ATC/Tag Builder set
  • I used a piece of underpaper on which I created the Fixed Star Tag as a background for this ATC - I just love those outlined stars that appeared when I cleaned the ARTplorations Oh! My Stars Mini stencil
  • draw a line around the edges with a black Stabilo All pencil and activate the color with a wet watercolor brush
  • stamp the sentiment from the STAMPlorations Noteworthy 2 set and some birds from the STAMPlorations Trendy Birds 2 set with Versafine (Onyx Black)
  • stamp the "Born to Fly" text from the STAMPlorations Trendy Birds 2 set into the background - only use second, third and fourth generation stamping
  • create a watercolor background using Brusho (Turquoise) and Color Burst (Orchid)
  • I used an empty sticker sheet as a circle stencil together with a white gel pen

I hope you got inspired and don't forget to join us for our Mixed Media Challenge over at the STAMPlorations Blog. The theme is always anything mixed media except a card. You must use at least one stencil (any brand) in your project. The Linky closes at the end of the month.
